New IMLS report on Connecting to Collections initiative

The Institute of Museum and Library Services has released Connecting to Collections: A Report to the Nation. The report describes how IMLS has supported thousands of museum and library professionals with grants, resources and technical assistance to care for collections at risk.

The "Oregon Preservation Assessment and Education Planning Project" (aka OR C2C) is a direct beneficiary of a Connecting to Collections grant. In addition, many Oregon museums, historical societies and other cultural institutions have received the Connecting to Collections Bookshelf - a variety of books, charts and DVDs, addressing collection assessment, management and emergency preparedness.

IMLS plans to continue its support of protecting our nation's cultural heritage by providing additional grants, workshops and conservation activities . Our current OR C2C project will set the foundation for an additional implementation grant in the near future.

The map indicates the many Oregon institutions that have benefited from the IMLS initiative.
